South Bristol Amateur Radio Club

The Foundation Licenses is the entrance into the World of Amateur Radio for the United Kingdom. To be able to obtain a Foundation License you are required to complete a series of simply practical assessments and pass a short multiple choice exam. I have developed a course that runs over approximately over 10 weeks at SBARC on Wednessday evenings. The course teaches you the basics of Amateur Radio and provides the required assessments so you are well prepared for your final exam. You can only sit the exam after you have completed all the assessments and you need to answer 18 of the 25 questions correctly in order to pass the exam.
I can supply the guide "Foundation Now" for GBP 5.00, or you can order it direct the RSGB. We follow "Foundation Now" throughout the duration of our course so I strongly recommend you have a copy and bring it along to each lesson. Lessons start at 20:00 and run for 1 to 1 and a half hours.
The cost for the Fondation course is a total of GBP 22.00, of this GBP 20.00 is the entrance fee for the exam and the remaining GBP 2.00 covers expenses for printing lesson handouts, mock exams, etc.
If you like you can download a copy of our lesson handouts from the resources page. You will also find our "Foundation Introductory Pack" on the same page.
